Memory Jacket Printed in Black

65.00

This handmade linoprint was inspired by the practice of tourist jackets from Mexico in the 30s - 50s. Visitors to Mexico often returned home with embroidered jackets, that although beautiful, were covered with stereotypical scenes that did little to accurately represent the culture, art, or people of the area. With that in mind, I created a design that displays the jacket against lush patterns inspired by Mexican embroidery. The jacket pattern itself is inspired by my memories of growing up in Los Angeles along with the cultural influences/symbols I remember and hold dear.

- Hand registered and printed on rich yellow or pool blue paper

- Each print contains gold leaf on the rosettes that is applied by hand

- Every block is lovingly designed and carved by hand for each edition of prints

- Colors are custom mixed from oil-based inks

- This print is on 10.5 x 13.5 inch (approx) paper, image size is 9 x 12

- Each print is signed and dated

- This print is sold unmatted

Due to the hand-made nature of these prints and the nature of block printing, minor variations between prints are common
