Based on a hand carved linoleum blockprints, this card set includes three each of the Metate and Molinillo Tribute greeting cards. Both designs are meant to pay homage to the physical and emotional labor involved in the day-to-day tasks that make domestic life possible. Stone metates like the one shown here are used to grind corn, chile peppers, and other food staples which become the basis for many traditional meals. Metates are often treated as family heirlooms and passed down through generations of women.

Wooden molinillos like the one shown here are used to make hot chocolate, atole, and champurrado - drinks that provide comfort as well as the nutrition to start/get you through the day. Both beautiful objects in themselves, I wanted to depict the molinillo and metate with reverence, and therefore show reverence to the action of domestic labor as well.

The preparation of food is of particular interest to me as it essential for our basic survival, but also provides pleasure, serves an act of affection, and creates the foundation of shared experience with those we share a table with. These images are based on a hand carved linoleum blockprints.

This set includes six 4.25 x 5.5 inch fold-over cards, is blank inside to hold your personal messages, and comes with a kraft brown envelope. Protective sleeve is compostable.
