This 100% cotton tea towel is printed with a colorful design depicting a wooden molinillo, based on an original hand carved block print.

Each towel is made of 130 thread count high quality flour sack cotton, approximately 27 x 27 inches, with an image size of 15.5 x 21 inches

This design is meant to pay homage to the physical and emotional labor involved in the day-to-day tasks that make domestic life possible. Wooden molinillos like the one shown here are used to make hot chocolate, atole, and champurrado - drinks that provide comfort as well as the nutrition to start/get you through the day. A beautiful object in itself, I wanted to depict the molinillo with reverence, and therefore show reverence to the action of domestic labor as well. The preparation of food is of particular interest to me as it essential for our basic survival, but also provides pleasure, serves an act of affection, and creates the foundation of shared experience with those we share a table with.
