Made from smooth vegtan (a natural tanning process) cow leather, it is hand embellished with real copper leaf to accent the central design. The rim is carefully burnished to create a finished edge. Like all vegtan leathers, it will develop a deeper, richer color with age and exposure to UV light. Like the leather itself, natural copper changes color over time as it oxidizes, slowly forming a lovely patina. Lightly conditioned with a leather wax for protection, this piece it is not fully waterproof, but will age beautifully.

Exploring vessel shapes and leather as a primary material is the inspiration for this piece, therefore it is meant to be an art object and not a utility serving piece.
